Whenever the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) ascended the Minbar (to give the Friday Khutbah), we used to face him.
وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رضى الله عنه
قَالَ: «كَانَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ -]إِذَا [اسْتَوَى عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ اسْتَقْبَلْنَاهُ بِوُجُوهِنَا»

سقط من«أ».2 صحيح. رواه الترمذي (509) وهو وإن كان ضعيف السند، بل موضوع؛ فإنه من رواية محمد بن الفضل بن عطية، وهو كذاب، إلا أنه كما قال الترمذي: «والعمل على هذا عند أهل العلم من أصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وغيرهم، يستحبون استقبال الإمام إذا خطب». قلت: وما ذلك إلا من أجل كثرة الآثار الواردة عن الصحابة في ذلك، مع وجود أحدها في «صحيح البخاري»، وفي رسالتي «سنن مهجورة«بيان لهذه السنة، وما ورد فيها من آثار»
