Terms and Conditions

Last updated 19 June 2026

These terms cover your use of WhatSurah. By using the site you agree to them. They are written to be readable, not to trick you.

The short version. WhatSurah is free and offered as is. It does its best to identify an Ayah, but it can be wrong, so please verify anything important with a qualified scholar or a printed Mushaf. Use it respectfully and lawfully.

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using WhatSurah, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. What the service does

WhatSurah lets you paste a video link or recite aloud, then attempts to identify the matching Surah and Ayah of the Qur'an and show its Arabic text and a translation. It is an automated tool offered for the benefit of the community.

3. Free, and provided as is

The service is free to use. It is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether the service will always be available, uninterrupted, or error free. We may change, pause, or stop any part of it at any time.

4. Accuracy, and a note on the Qur'an

Matches are produced automatically and may be incomplete or incorrect. WhatSurah is a starting point, not a religious authority. For anything you intend to recite, share, teach, or rely upon, please confirm it against a trusted printed Mushaf or with a qualified scholar. We ask that the Qur'anic text shown here always be treated with the respect it deserves.

5. Acceptable use

6. Intellectual property

The Arabic text of the Qur'an is sacred and is not owned by us. Translations shown may belong to their respective authors or publishers and remain their property. The WhatSurah name, logo, and site design belong to us, and may not be copied or reused without permission.

7. Third-party content and links

The service works with content hosted on third-party platforms and may rely on third-party tools. We are not responsible for that content or for those services, and including a link does not mean we endorse it.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, WhatSurah and the people who run it are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service, including reliance on a result that turns out to be inaccurate.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the service means you accept the current version.
