When the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) wore a new garment, he would name it. For instance, a turban, shirt, or cloak and would supplicate: “Allahumma lakal-hamdu, Anta kasautanihi, asaluka khairahu wa khaira ma sunia lahu, wa audhu bika min sharrihi wa sharri ma sunia lahu (O Allah, all the praise is for You that You have given it to me to put on. I ask You its goodness and the goodness of the purpose for which it was made, and I seek Your Protection from its evil and the evil of the purpose for which it was made).”.
