Sad bin al-Hadi said: I heard Ali (رضي الله عنه) say: I never heard the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) mention his father and mother together (in the phrase ‘may my father and mother be sacrificed for you’) for anyone except Sad ibn Abi Waqqas. I heard him say on the day of Uhud: Shoot, O Sad, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you!.
