A daughter of Uthman ibn Affan died in Makkah and Ibn Umar and Ibn Abbas attended her funeral. I was sitting between them and ibn Umar said to Amr ibn Uthman, who was facing him: why don’t you tell them not to weep? For I heard the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) say: ‘The deceased is tormented because of his family’s weeping for him.’ And he mentioned a hadeeth similar to that of Ismaeel from Ayyoob from Ibn Abu Mulaikah.
