وعن ابن عمر رضي الله عنهما، عن
النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: «أحفوا الشوارب وأعفوا اللحى»
The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said, “Trim the moustaches and let the beard grow.”.
The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) enjoins that the mustache should be trimmed and not be left to grow; rather, it should be cut, and this should be done to a great extent. On the other hand, he enjoins that the beard should be left to grow long.
