وَأَخْبَرَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ أَيْمَنَ

قَالَ لَمْ يَقْطَعِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ السَّارِقَ إِلاَّ فِي ثَمَنِ الْمِجَنِّ وَثَمَنُ الْمِجَنِّ يَوْمَئِذٍ دِينَارٌ

“The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) did not cut off the (hand of) the thief except for the value of a shield, and the value of a shield in those days was a Dinar.” (Daif).

মাহমূদ ইবন গায়লান (রহঃ) ... আয়মান (রহঃ) থেকে বর্ণিত। তিনি বলেন, রাসূলুল্লাহ্ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লামঢালের সমপরিমাণ মূল্যের জন্য চোরের হাত কাটতেন। আর সে সময় ঢালের মূল্য ছিল এক দীনার।
