Sad ibn Ubada reported God’s messenger as saying, “Every man who recites the Qur’an and then forgets it* will meet God on the day of resurrection in a maimed condition.” *This has been explained as referring to one who has learned the Qur’an by heart and later forgets it, or neglects to recite it. Abu Dawud and Darimi transmitted it.
