The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) forbade selling a debt to be paid at a future date for another i.e., a debt for a debt.
وَعَنِ اِبْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا-;
«أَنَّ اَلنَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ اَلْكَالِئِ بِالْكَالِئِ، يَعْنِي: اَلدَّيْنِ بِالدَّيْنِ»

ضعيف. وهو في «كشف الأستار» (1280)، ورواه الدارقطني، والطحاوي، والحاكم، والبيهقي، وضعفه جمع غفير من أهل العلم، وذلك لتفرد موسى بن عبيدة الزبيدي، به. قال الحافظ في «التلخيص» (3 / 26): «قال أحمد بن حنبل: لا تحل عندي عنه الرواية، ولا أعرف هذا الحديث عن غيره، وقال أيضا: ليس في هذا صحيح يصح، لكن إجماع الناس على أنه لا يجوز بيع دين بدين»
