حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

قَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِذَا شَرِبَ الْكَلْبُ فِي إِنَاءِ أَحَدِكُمْ فَلْيَغْسِلْهُ سَبْعًا»

The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said, “If a dog drinks from the utensil of anyone of you it is essential to wash it seven times.”

আবূ হুরাইরাহ (রাযি.) হতে বর্ণিত। আল্লাহর রাসূল সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বলেছেন তোমাদের কারো পাত্রে যদি কুকুর পান করে তবে তা যেন সাতবার ধুয়ে নেয়। (মুসলিম ২/২৭, হাঃ ২৭৯, আহমাদ ৭৩৫০, ৭৩৫১,৭৪৫১)

ہم سے عبداللہ بن یوسف نے بیان کیا، انہیں امام مالک نے ابوالزناد سے خبر دی، وہ اعرج سے، وہ ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ جب کتا تم میں سے کسی کے برتن میں سے ( کچھ ) پی لے تو اس کو سات مرتبہ دھو لو ( تو پاک ہو جائے گا ) ۔

Telah menceritakan kepada kami ['Abdullah bin Yusuf] dari [Malik] dari [Abu Az Zinad] dari [Al A'raj] dari [Abu Hurairah] berkata, "Sesungguhnya Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam bersabda: "Jika anjing menjilat bejana seorang dari kalian, maka hendaklah ia cuci hingga tujuh kali

What it means

What it teaches

• The dog's saliva is extremely impure.
• When a dog licks a vessel, this makes it and the water in it impure.
• The command to cleanse a utensil with dust and repeat this seven times is only related to the dog's licking, apart from its urine and excrement and anything else it has made dirty.
• How to wash a pot with dirt: Put water in the pot and add dirt to it, and then wash the pot with this mixture.
• Apparently, the Hadīth applies to all dogs, including those sanctioned by the Shariah to be acquired, like hunting and guard dogs and those associated with cattle.
• Soap and potash may not replace dust in this regard, because the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) specifically mentioned dust.
