The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) never missed four rakat before the Zuhr prayer and two rakat before the Fajr prayer.

Aişe (radiyallahu anha) şöyle demiştir: Nebi Sallallahu Aleyhi ve Sellem öğleden önce dört, sabah'tan önce iki rek'at namazı bırakmazdı

Sahih al-Bukhari 1182, Book 19, Prayer at Night (Tahajjud), Hadith 59. 1 min read

What it means

‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) informed that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to regularly offer the supererogatory prayers in her house without ever leaving them: four Rak‘ahs (unit of prayer) with two Taslīms before the Zhuhr prayer and two Rak‘ahs before the Fajr prayer.

What it teaches

  • It is recommended to regularly observe four Rak‘ahs before the Zhuhr prayer and two Rak‘ahs before the Fajr prayer.
  • It is preferable to offer the regular Sunnah prayers at home and this is why ‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) informed about them.
