“The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) went out to invoke Allah for rain. He faced the Qibla invoking Allah. He turned over his cloak (inside out) and then offered two rakat and recited the Qur’an aloud in them.”

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ تَمِيمٍ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ

قَالَ خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتَسْقِي فَتَوَجَّهَ إِلَى الْقِبْلَةِ يَدْعُو، وَحَوَّلَ رِدَاءَهُ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ جَهَرَ فِيهِمَا بِالْقِرَاءَةِ

“The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) went out to invoke Allah for rain. He faced the Qibla invoking Allah. He turned over his cloak (inside out) and then offered two rakat and recited the Qur’an aloud in them.”

‘আববাদ ইবনু তামীম (রাযি.) তাঁর চাচা হতে বর্ণনা করেন, নবী সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বৃষ্টির দু‘আর জন্য বের হলেন, কিবলামুখী হয়ে দু‘আ করলেন এবং নিজের চাদরখানি উল্টে দিলেন। অতঃপর দু‘রাক‘আত সালাত আদায় করলেন। তিনি উভয় রাক‘আতে সশব্দে কিরাআত পাঠ করলেন। (১০০৫)

ہم سے ابونعیم فضل بن دکین نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے ابن ابی ذئب نے زہری سے بیان کیا، ان سے عباد بن تمیم نے اور ان سے ان کے چچا (عبداللہ بن زید) نے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم استسقاء کے لیے باہر نکلے تو قبلہ رو ہو کر دعا کی۔ پھر اپنی چادر پلٹی اور دو رکعت نماز پڑھی۔ نماز میں آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے قرآت بلند آواز سے کی۔

Telah menceritakan kepada kami [Abu Nu'aim] telah menceritakan kepada kami [Ibnu Abu Dzi'b] dari [Az Zuhri] dari ['Abbad bin Tamim] dari [Pamannya] berkata, "Nabi shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam pernah keluar untuk melaksanakan shalat istisqa', beliau lalu berdoa dengan menghadap ke arah kiblat sambil membalikkan kain selendangnya. Kemudian beliau melaksanakan shalat dua rakaat dengan mengeraskan bacaannya pada kedua rakaat itu

Abbad İbn Temîm amcasının şunları anlattığını nakletmîştir: "Resulullah Sallallahu Aleyhi ve Sellem yağmur duası etmek üzere musallaya çıktı. Bu sırada kıbleye doğru yöneldi ve omuzuna almış olduğu ridasını çevirdi. Daha sonra da kıraatin açıktan olduğu iki rekatlık bir namaz kıldı

What it means

Allah, the Exalted, tests His slaves with many types of trials, so that they will invoke Him alone and remember Him. So, when the earth became barren during the lifetime of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) he went out with the people toward the place where Eid prayer is performed in the desert to ask for rain from Allah, the Exalted, and in order to show more humbleness and need to Allah, the Exalted.

So, he faced the direction of Qiblah, where supplication is more likely to be answered, and began to invoke Allah to send down rain for the Muslims and to remove the drought that afflicted them. Out of optimism that their situation would change from drought and hardship to fertility and life of ease, he turned his upper garment inside out, then led the people in Istisqā' prayer.

The prayer consisted of two Rak‘ahs in which his recitation of the Qur'an was out loud, because it was a largely congregational prayer.
