Al-Aswad ibn Suray said, “I was a poet and went to the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and asked, ‘Shall I recite some praises I have written for my Lord?’ He said, ‘Your Lord loves praise,’ and did not say anything more.”
