Abdullah ibn Shaddad said, “I heard Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, say, ‘I did not see the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saying, (‘May my father and mother be) your ransom’ after Sad. I heard him say to him, ‘May my father and mother be your ransom.’’”
