Muwatta Malik
Born in Madinah and never leaving it except for the pilgrimage, he learned from the students of the Companions and taught for over sixty years in the Prophet's mosque. The Muwatta is the earliest book of hadith still in our hands, arranged by the practice of Madinah, and the school of law that bears his name grew out of it. He died in Madinah at eighty six and is buried in al-Baqi.
